What you can expect from our support

We are a free and independent service, providing high quality, personalised support to anyone affected by crime, including those who have witnessed this.

Following a referral, we will make contact with you within 48 working hours, to identify how we can best support you.

 

Victim Care Officer

Following referral, you will be contacted by a Victim Support Officer by telephone to discuss the support we can provide. Following this, you may be allocated a Victim Care Officer who will carry out an assessment with you and agree a plan, to support your recovery.

This may include providing emotional and/or practical support, identifying needs and linking you with suitable services,  assisting with Criminal Injury Compensation claims, providing crime prevention equipment, liaising with police and other services on your behalf and supporting you through any Court process.

 

 

We understand how it feels to experience crime

It can be overwhelming and it’s very normal to feel a mixture of emotions. We can help you when you don’t know where to turn, maybe you don’t  understand your rights or know what you’re entitled to – this is very common and we can help you with this.

 

 

Our team of specialist staff are experienced at helping people make sense of what has happened.

They will listen to you, provide feedback and help you to explore your options, to help you regain a feeling of control. Being able to talk things through in a safe and supportive space can be very helpful in moving forward after a crime.

Emotional and Practical Support

The opportunity to talk in confidence to an independent person, who will understand your experience and how this has affected you.  We provide the space for safe, non-judgemental conversations, which can help you to express how you are feeling and understand these emotions.

We can also provide information and advice on ways to improve your home and personal security.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q : Do I have to report the crime to the Police?

A:  No, it is entirely up to you as to whether you wish to make a complaint of the crime, we suggest that you should discuss your reasons with your Victim Care Officer.

Q: Is this a confidential service?

A: Yes, we will not disclose any information to anyone without your consent unless any safeguarding concerns are identified.

Q: How long after the crime can I get help?

A: There is no time limit on the support we provide.
